NILA INTERPRETATION CENTER
KERALA HERITAGE AND CULTURAL CENTRES
The site is located on the bank of the Bharathapuzha River, also known as the River Nila, which holds great cultural and heritage significance in Kerala. This project aims to enhance Kerala's heritage architecture and promote the preservation of its cultural values. Kerala is known for its narrow streets adorned with lush greenery. Therefore, the main concept of this project is to create a narrow entry-connected exhibition block that visually connects to the River Bharathapuzha.

The River Bharathapuzha is gradually becoming narrower over time, so the project also serves as a memorial to commemorate its significance. The design incorporates elements of colonial architecture found in Kerala, specifically the introduction of arches. These arches are integrated as structural elements, connecting the roofs through vertical elements. This design concept combines the fusion of arches and pitched roofs, paying homage to both Kerala's colonial architecture and its traditional architectural styles.
